Indonesia and Cambodia volunteer work

Indonesia- Sumatra - Lumpang Orphanage Visit

August 28th-September 3rd

Leave Jakarta via night bus/ferry- The night of Aug. 28th Arrive Bandar Lampung- Morning of the 29th

(Aug. 29th)-

Explore Lampung, acclimating and getting some R&R after the long bus ride. Buy some supplies for the orphanage, mainly for arts and crafts and some other treats. Review each volunteers hopes for the trip and how we aim to achieve them.

(Aug 30th)-

Arrive at the Orphanage. Meet the children, Nuns, and staff and play introduction and icebreaker games. (12-4pm)

Games- Pretzel, Alphabet race, shapes, musical chairs, Xʼs & Oʼs, spin on a stick, duck duck goose, red light green light, frog hop etc.

(Aug 31st Idul Fitri)-

Wake up early. Help with breakfast preparations, and preparing the orphanage for Idul Fitri. Take part in the daily rituals.

The orphanage will have some of its own activities running on Idul Fitri which include walking around the community and stopping for snacks and to say hello to neighbors and people in the community. We will participate in these activities and run few hours of English lessons if it is not to chaotic at the orphanage.

10am-12pm English lessons. Dividing the children into two groups and run two separate English classes. Using the class room with a whiteboard to run a proper English class while the other group uses the outside area or smaller room to play fun English games, conversation, etc. Switch after one hour.

7pm- Help prepare and serve dinner and well as clean up after. Possibly a small cooking activity, or pass out some bought treats.

(Aug. 31st and Idul Fitri)- to sept 3rd

10-12pm English lessons, review and expansion of prior material.12pm-2pm Lunch followed by a “nooner”(or nap time). Nap or use this time for yourself, reflect, read, pray, thank your lucky stars.

2pm-4pm Arts and crafts with all the children. Making posters, cards, etc. and taking photos.

Departure on sept 3rd -Hugs and tears.


Cambodia:SONGEA PROJECT.

The project area is located at the village called Masigira, there is no electrical energy, you can find it from 4km the way to town area, also there are some neighbourhood owning solar power plants. There is huge need of volunteers. And internet is about 12 km (in town), transportation from the village are: Motorbike, Public bus and Taxi and walking about 2km sometimes.
1. To teach English lessons at Masigra centre for the Youth & Children (MCYC), as programs says- you will teach kids from 7 years up to 14 from the Government primary school and 14-18 years old from Government Secondary school (our orphans with other students). And street kids.
2. Taking care for the children less than 7 years (This will depend on how many volunteers they are.
3. To participate to our farming project (Cultivation) for growing vegetable, fruits and food!
4. According to volunteers who visited and volunteered to us they suggested that instead of our uncharged service, we suppose to charge a little bit money for volunteers sleeping arrangement and some important things to be prepared, so we will charge 150 us dollars per volunteer for at least 3 months period, this will include Bus transportation from Dar es Salaam to Songea and Songea to Dar es Salaam (a day safari) the place of Our Main project, sleeping arrangement at local home and four (4$) us dollars per day for normal food( you can buy your own food but always we share what we have).
5. We don’t provide personal items.

MONDAY, TUESDAY AND THURSDAY
7:00am – 8:30 am – Vegetables gardening activities.
8:40am – 9:00 am –Breakfast
9:30am – 12:00 pm – Teaching kids from the primary school level (teaching
English, French and or Spanish for beginners)
12:05pm – 13:55pm-Lunch time
14:00 – 16:30 pm – Teaching youth from the secondary school Ordinary
level
(Teaching English for beginners)
17:00pm – 18:30 pm – Vegetable, crops activities and watering.
19:00 pm – 21:00pm – Campfire, Dinner, storytelling and games.
WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY:
7:00am – 8:30 am – Vegetables gardening activities.

19:00 pm – 21:00pm – Campfire, Dinner, storytelling and games.
SATURDAY:
8:00am -8:30am – Breakfast
9:00am- 12:00pm – Gardening activities
12:00 am-14:00pm –Lunch time.
14:30pm-15:40pm –Watering vegetable
16:00pm-18:00pm-Games and sports.
18:30 pm – 22:00pm – Campfire, Dinner, storytelling and games.
SUNDAY:
16:00 pm-18:00pm –Games and Sports.
18:30 pm – 21:00pm – Campfire, Dinner, storytelling and games.
