St. Vincentius - charity work

Aug. 28, 2011 to Sept. 4, 2011

Was a great time at St. Vincentius orphanage, the girls where amazing, and they even had a couple young boys. Was there for 5 days and loved every minute of it. Have made arrangements with the sister to come every 3 months! This is definitely something that I plan to follow through on just if it is by myself. The bus ride to Sumatra is not too horrible and if there is not a major holiday it will be even easier. The town we are in never really see expats so it’s even worse than Jakarta when it comes to people stopping and wanting to talk to you, give you rides on their ojeck but that’s Indonesia for ya, pretty much everyone wants to be accommodating to you, but just keeping your wits about you and just speaking to them and telling them “jalan jalan “. Pretty much never got a minute to myself except to go out and smoke, and as soon as I got back, the girls just want to be connect and practice English so had nonstop English lessons going. Divided the kids up into two groups to teach English lesson which worked out the best since there is total of 32 and they are all different levels when it comes to learning English. The orphanage has NO air conditioned at all and nothing was in Lampung, which made me realize how thankful I am for places that are. The girls put on a dance, and singing show for me, Luke and Sallie. Kumbus national Park with sister and a couple of the girls to ride on elephants around for a jungle trek!
